I happened to find this song on the net, and have been trying in vane to find it for sale. (Yes, there are those of us who’d rather pay the artists for the songs we enjoy).
This song is dear to me as I lived in a small town with a steam railroad, one that as a teenager I worked on. Because of that job I eventually got a job with one of the big roads, where I am now an engineer.
This is one of the BEST Restless Heart songs ever! I never knew my grandfather Burket, but he was a railroad labor for nearly 41 years on the PRR. I love trains and model railroading. When I hear this song and view the video, I get chills and teary-eyed. I almost feel the presence of my grandfather through this song.
Is this song based on the real-life story of a band member or one of the songwriters? Where is the town of Avvon? Is the bridge in the song called “Five Yards?” I would love to hear the story that inspired this song.
